Missions at First Church

Mission Philosophy

First Church is a part of Christ’s worldwide church. Through the activities of our members and the allocation of our resources, we demonstrate we are a part of His church. We seek to serve the needs of people in our community and in places around the world.

Mission Giving Goal

Our long-range budget goal is to devote one dollar to mission outreach for each dollar spent in support of our local program budget.

Personal Involvement in Mission

We encourage the personal involvement of each of the Church’s members in extending God’s love, as exemplified in Jesus Christ. to our neighbors. Personal involvement may be (a) volunteer time spent locally or at a distant mission project, (b) a financial contribution, (c) becoming an advocate for a special mission program, or (d) in other mission activities.

Five for Five

We are a FIVE for FIVE church. We earn that designation by contributing to the basic mission support of the church as well as each of the four special church wide offerings listed below. Basic Mission Support (sometimes called Unified Mission) is the funding sent by the congregation to support the mission budget of the presbytery, synod, and General Assembly. Basic Mission Support strengthens congregations, supports mission service personnel, and provides leadership training and scholarships. The links below tell more about the special church wide offerings.
