Member Care Committee

The overall purpose of the member care committee is to encourage and enable the membership of First Church to demonstrate their caring for one another and our visitors as individuals, each belonging to Christ’s family. The committee accomplishes this goal by dividing into four action groups that focus on various aspects of member care. All members of the congregation are invited and encouraged to participate in the work of the action groups.

  • The new member involvement action group works with persons who have decided to join First Church from the time of new member classes through their first year of membership so they might be introduced to a wide range of church members and activities.
  • The fellowship action group promotes warmth in the congregation’s life and bonding between members by planning and organizing luncheons, dinners, receptions and Sunday coffee fellowship times.
  • The active member calling action group contacts every First Church family periodically to offer church support for members’ spiritual and physical needs and to enhance members’ participation in the life and activities of the church. The group is also responsible for assuring that all members listed as active on the church’s rolls wish to continue to be “active” members of First Church.
  • The hospital and homebound visitation action group forms teams of members that visit First Church members who are patients in local and nearby hospitals to offer encouragement and prayer. The group also coordinates with the pastor and parish visitor to assure that homebound and ill members are visited and spiritually cared for.
